From the age of 11 to 21, I witnessed a horrible war and a revolution in the country I was born in.

I witnessed educational reforms, the destruction of musical instruments, and restrictions on learning the truth about current events. Freedom to teach reminds me of my teenage years of wanting to learn the truth. After 30 years of living in the US, freedom to teach made me realize how wonderfully our community can come together and help enrich the lives of so many students. Freedom to teach is freedom to let our future generations be creative, talented, and themselves.

Freedom to teach means that I am able to supply my students with the knowledge in the content areas as I feel necessary and appropriate without always worrying about the limitations.

I can allow students to learn at their pace and differentiate accordingly to what I believe is necessary. Freedom to teach is not about someone else placing instructions or plans on what is best for my own students.
