About This Lesson

This is a culturally responsive lesson plan on Langston Hughes' "I, Too, Sing America." The objectives are that students will be able to understand that an author’s background and perspective informs our reading and analysis of texts, and will be able to use a non-fiction text about an author to help them express the key ideas of that same author’s text. Feedback is welcome!

The rubrics were awesome, as well as the whole unit!

Enjoyed this lesson.

Enjoyed this lesson. Applicable. easy to follow and measure. predicted responses where right on the money. Students seemed to anticipate uncovering every stanza as they read ahead and shared their thoughts and feelings. Thank you for contributing.
