About This Lesson

Explore the hero Hercules, known as Herakles by the Greeks, in ancient art. Learn about an impressive marble statue of Hercules holding a club and lion skin, referencing one of the famous twelve labors or dangerous tasks he had to carry out. Closely study and discuss a work of art, research other objects that share related stories, and explore contrapposto.
