freedom to utilize resources without interference from administration

^ Yes! Or to use resources without parents hearing a misconstrued version about it and starting issues on social media about indoctrinating a liberal or conservative agenda.

Oh, yes, and to be supported in forming relationships with parents of students!

Teach using up to date technology and resources, and skills that are needed, not skipping over basics and not teaching only skills or standards for test passing.

Freedom to Teach means to me to get a permanent full-time job at the grade levels I feel I am most useful and inspired in, and then be the key in the door to grow knowledge, and our community. To see the roots I can help students grow and someday, see the fruit. To not be constricted by administration and not be shunted aside as I interview for appropriate jobs because of my looks, gender, or age.

Freedom to teach means being able to use and differentiate for each student at whatever level they are located, as well, as being provided with adequate and current resources to meet the needs of the students.

Yes! Support and resources to promote differentiation!

This past year resources really was important because a student from Benin, Africa was placed in my fourth grade classroom whose English language level was as a newcomer.. The school/administration had no curriculum. The ENL teacher gave the student a french dictionary and he received services once a day for 30 minutes. At first It was a nightmare finding free resources for him. Fortunately I had taken French classes in high school and college. I wished Ihad known earlier that there is actually a wealth of lessons in French.

That was quite a challenging situation. Too bad you didn't have more support or resources on the front-end. I hope you can find a way to share the information and resources you discovered with other teachers. Kudos to you!

to broach hard subjects and have discussions with students without fear of being banned from doing so!

I got "spoken to" last year for trying to help students understand why people would respond with a slogan such as "Black Lives Matter" but was allowed to continue.

Freedom to Teach to me means allowing others to feel free and comfortable to learn at their own level and pace, with no fear of asking questions without worrying about time constraints.

Freedom to teach means to be open to using legitimate outside resources to maximize my teaching and enlightening students, allowing them to be more culturally aware. It also means I can approach each lesson in a way that reaches students in the way that is conducive for learning at their own level.

Freedom to teach means having the time to slow down when my students need additional support and not being driven by a district content schedule.

Freedom to teach means not having the stress of following direct orders. The person in charge trusts the teacher will be able to deliver all content at the pace and differentiation needed for the students. One week we can be on track, the next week we can be behind and the following we can be ahead. The freedom to teach allows the teacher to teach at the pace of the students with different styles because the teacher is given the liberty on how to teach. More importantly they are also given the right to choose their own type of assessments.

Freedom to Teach mean that I am given the reins and supported in using my content knowledge, my relationships with students, and resources I have created and curated in building a classroom community of inquiry, independent thought, and growth. It means that I am recognized as the person in my classroom who can guide the young adults that I teach to being independent, questioning, responsible citizens of tomorrow.

To me, the freedom to teach means that my administrators are open enough to give me a destination and a map but allow me to choose and redirect the path I use to get there. Micromanaging would not exist but meaningful collaboration would! Additionally, I would not be expected to follow a prescribed script that literally inputs exactly which words I must use in my instruction. Administrators would have the faith in my professionalism, training, and many years of experience that is necessary to allow me to soar. Obviously there was enough faith for us to be hired for positions with a lot of competition so let's face that our classrooms do not function as vacuums that suck away our knowledge and ability.

It means that I am empowered to best serve the students I am entrusted with any means possible. It means that if I meet the criteria of learning standards that I am free to teach those standards meaningfully to the students I work with creativity, ingenuity and responsibility. Freedom means my Administration will be excited about my choices and methods of reaching student goals.

we have freedom

Freedom to TEACH means not having to worry about standardized assessments. It’s the freedom to decide what assessments are best for your students and decide what instructional strategies work best for your students. Freedom to dress like the historical time period or character you are discussing in class. Freedom to immerse yourself into the culture of your subject matter, touching on all senses for students to experience their education. The freedom to teach in the manner that best helps move your students at their pace, that you’ve determined as the professional you should be seen as.

Freedom to teach means equal pay for equal work. Austerity is much easier to handle when we all feel we're struggling together with a sense of true solidarity and unity. These tiers that divide us sap our compassion and spirt of volunteerism.

To me, Freedom to Teach is the ability to have fun while teaching, and to engage students in meaningful, real-world lessons and concepts. It means that I am encouraged and supported in providing quality instruction to all students. Freedom to Teach allows me to build relationships with student, tailoring education to meet their needs and interests! Freedom to Teach allows me to teach!

The freedom to teach is the opportunity and responsibility to bring anti-racist and anti-ableist principles into my teaching, my classroom structure, my communication and relationship building with students, families and my staff EVERY DAY.

Freedom to teach means being able to develop my unique style as an educator. It means that I will remain inspired to use my creativity to plan the most engaging lessons possible for my students!

Freedom to Teach means allowing me to teach developmentally appropriate curriculum in a developmentally appropriate, hands on, multisensory, interest driven way, not teaching push down inappropriate, push down curriculum. It also means that the people who hired me have the faith that the people who trained me actually taught me to do my job well and correctly and not question every single thing I do to help my students learn. Freedom to Teach is also the ability to have the necessary materials and equipment so that my children are able to learn.

Freedom to teach means getting to know our students, building relationships to help them become successful. While doing this we can develop lessons that will fit and help each individual student for their successes in and out of school.

Freedom to Teach, to me, means receiving all the resources and support needed for all the students and all the school staff from both the government and the school community. This would allow teachers and administrators more time to TEACH, students more time and opportunities to LEARN.

Freedom to teach means being able to use and apply what we know works for students. It means being able to teach and facilitate in the way the each student learns best. It means being able to use our creativity to engage students and develop their passion for learning. It means being able to go home to our own families and feel like the professionals we are and know that we did important work that will DEFINITELY lead to success.

Freedom to teach means be respected as a professional and understanding that I know what is best for my students. As a resource specialist, it is very important to understand that all students are different. In order to meet their needs, we have to be free to differentiate instruction, provide interventions and make each lesson work for them!

Freedom to teach means no restraints or hindrances to the profession of teaching. Scholars should feel safe about learning in all aspects and teachers should feel the freedom of teaching about life and not only about certain curricula. As a life long learner, I feel we should and can always learn. There are so many avenues of education and as teachers we should be using all of them. Media plays a heavy part in teaching in this century and to this generation. Children learn differently as adults do and we cannot limit or hinder their learning in any way.
